There is a lot in here. This is how to find the part you came for.
inkling-s is one person’s attempt to read Scripture carefully and say honest things about it. Everything on it was written for this site — a devotion in the morning, a word opened back to its Greek or Hebrew, a chapter read slowly and in order, hard questions followed wherever they go.
It grew room by room, which is the trouble: the menu can tell you what things are called, but not which one is yours. So this page is arranged the other way round — by what you came to do. Find the sentence that sounds like you and start there. You do not need an account, and nothing here costs anything.
You have ten minutes in the morning
The shortest way in, and the one most people keep.
The Daily Devo→One short reading, new each day, with the passage in front of you. If you only ever use one thing here, use this.
Today→The front door: today’s devotion, today’s quote, and whatever else went up this morning, all on one page.
You want to read the Bible itself, slowly
Not a book about it. It, in order, with help in the margin.
The Reading Room→Scripture down the middle of the page, and every commentary, word study and thread written on it opening in the margin beside it. This is the room the rest of the site serves into.
Commentary→Chapter by chapter, unhurried, reading the whole Bible as one story that arrives at Christ rather than sixty-six separate ones.
Logos→A single word opened back into its Greek or Hebrew — what it actually carried, and what we lost when it became an English word we think we already understand.
You are not sure any of it is true
You are welcome exactly as you are. The questions are taken seriously here, not managed.
Reason→Honest questions about whether Christianity is true, followed wherever they lead — including to the places where the answer is harder than anyone would like.
A Light in Dark Places→Type in any verse that troubles you and get a clear reading of it. Useful when a passage has been used against you, or simply makes no sense.
You want to pray and cannot find the words
Other people have already written them down. You are allowed to borrow.
A Cloud of Witnesses→The historic daily office — morning and evening prayer, confession, the creeds, the psalms — kept the way the church has kept it, with room for the people you carry.
Every Word→Commit Scripture to memory a card at a time, so the words are there on the day you need them and cannot go looking.
